In addition to providing all the treatments you expect from a modern dental practice, we find that prevention is the best approach to avoid tooth loss or the need for fillings. Since three out of four teeth are lost through gum disease, it's clear why we put such emphasis on the early identification and cure of any gum disorder. You have more to lose than your teeth if you allow gum disease to continue unhindered. Our two-pronged approach helps you maintain dental health.
The Dental Health Review is a comprehensive appraisal of your dental health. With mouth cancer killing around 5000 people each year in the UK, and early detection and treatment considerably increasing survival chances, regular dental visits are highly recommended.
The consultation includes a review of your medical history, a discussion of your dental health and any concerns regarding your teeth and smile, followed by an assessment of the health of your gums, cheeks, tongue, lips and teeth and a check that any previous dental work continues to fulfil its purpose.
Following your review we advise you of your dental health and propose a treatment or maintenance programme that ensures problems are corrected and dental health continues.
The long-term survival of your natural smile and the opportunity for any cosmetic renovation is dependant on the support of healthy gums and their upkeep is the remit of our hygienists.
Our hygienists will undertake a thorough cleaning of your mouth during your hygiene session. They will remove bacterial plaque that builds up between visits - contributing to decay, gum disease and bad breath - leaving your mouth healthy and smelling fresh. They will offer you advice for improving your oral hygiene routine between visits and show you how to use the right interdental products.
If gum disease is present, depending on its severity, our hygienists will undertake or recommend an appropriate course of action. In severe cases, patients will be referred to our periodontist who will determine the diagnosis and propose an appropriate treatment plan, which could include gum surgery.
